Mathematical bold letters have existed in Unicode since 2001, so nearly every modern device has a font for them. Filled squares and block frames are newer and slightly less consistent.
Notes
- Bold serif and sans-serif styles include digits; bold italic does not, so numbers stay plain there.

Is this real bold formatting?
No. Each letter is replaced with a Unicode โmathematical boldโ character that looks bold. That is why it works in fields that do not allow formatting.
Why are my accented letters not bold?
Unicode only defines bold forms for the basic Latin alphabet and digits. FontGenerate keeps accented letters unchanged rather than dropping them.
Will bold text affect search or hashtags?
Yes. Bold characters are different characters, so a bold username or hashtag will not match searches for the plain version. Keep searchable text plain.
What is the difference between serif bold and sans bold?
